Mushroom and cabbage pie

A holiday feast that includes a mushroom pie will stand out! The crunchy, golden and delicious pie also makes an excellent gift, if you visit friends or family during the holidays.

 

Pastry:

200 g flour

150 g whole grain flour

1 tbs dried thyme

1 tsp salt

200 g cold butter

200 g sour cream

 

Filling:

530 g of Salvest Fried sauerkraut with carrots

200 g salted mushrooms

2 tbs sour cream

1 tbs brown sugar

1 tbs caraway seeds

 

Egg for brushing.

 

Mix together the dry ingredients. Next, mix together diced cold butter and process into a smooth mixture by hand or in a food processor. Add sour cream and form the pastry into a ball. Turn the pastry ball into a cling film and let it rest in the fridge for 2 hours.

For the filling, mix all the ingredients together.

Roll the pastry to the size of an oven plate on a floured greaseproof paper. Place the filling on one side of the pastry and lift the other side on top. Next, carefully press together the pastry edges and brush the pie with egg wash. Cut some air holes on top of the pie with a knife-tip and bake the pie in a pre-heated oven at 200 ºC for 30 minutes. Let the pie cool down a bit before serving.
